Tree Preservation During Construction
Trees on or near construction sites can be preserved with appropriate planning and reasonable measures. Too often lack of such planning for tree-retention results in loss of valuable trees due to direct damage to roots, compaction of soils and injury to trunks and branches. In our experience, simple & inexpensive techniques can be effectively used to protect existing trees from construction impacts.
To effectively identify and develop protective measures, however, it is necessary to engage a professional and experienced consulting arborist when the project is in the planning phase. A professional arborist will identify which trees can reasonably be protected, and then work with the design and operational teams to develop and utilize effective tree-protection protocols during all phases of site work.
Large Tree Transplanting Projects
and other specialized designs.
Among arboricultural firms Heartwood Consulting offers a unique expertise in the successful relocation of large trees (to 60′ in height) across state lines, as well as in transplantation of even larger trees within large-scale work areas. For example, our staff has consulted on relocation numerous Landmark- and Heritage- Trees ranging to 90′ in height and weighing more than 400 tons. Unlike some contracting firms that perform such projects, we are specialized consultants only and can speak dispassionately and realistically about the protocols, costs and best practices that will be needed to assure a successful large tree relocation project.
