GIS & Mapping
The success of forest or woodland management programs is a function of decisions that are predicated on the management and utilization of biological and spatial information. Heartwood Consulting relies on our nearly 20 years experience in conducting tree inventories and developing inventory natural-resource databases. Using professional-grade GPS receivers, we can identify and map municipal trees and other landscape assets in a variety of formats, and to within one meter spatial accuracy. Upon completion of data collection, townships and other planning entities may elect to receive this information in a variety of GIS or CAD file-formats, or as a comprehensive database program that will mesh seamlessly with a preexisting GIS program. Nearly any type of summary or management reports and geo-statistical analyses can be generated from Heartwood’s asset inventory data.
As part of our forest and natural resource inventories we are able to offer the following:
GPS (Global Positioning System) surveying to a sub-meter accuracy level.
Analysis and summary of resource inventory information using ESRI ArcGIS Geographic Information System software.
Preparation of natural-resource inventory databases using Microsoft Access® or a variety of proprietary programs.
Customized aerial imagery, LIDAR mapping and remote sensing data services.
